Waheed Khan of A.K. Films & Studios needs no introduction in the field of Pakistani advertising. As the ultimate insider with over 3 decades of freelance production and directorial experience resulting in nearly a thousand TVCs and nearly 4 decades of award-winning contributions to the nation's top tier advertising agencies (including the likes of Crescent Communications International, Asiatic-JWT, Orient-McCann, Adcom, Prestige, M.N.J., Mass Advertising and many others), he brings the true finesse and infallible expertise of a seasoned veteran.
Starting his career in 1968 as a copywriter at Asiatic, young and enthusiastic Waheed wowed the creative industry with his innate prowess of the written word. In a span of 3 years, he scripted a plethora of hit TV ads as well as timeless taglines, several of which have stood the test of time, i.e. "Step into the World of Morven Gold" (Lakson Tobacco); "Wonder Bread is Wonderful!" (Wonder Bread) and "My Honda, My Hero" (Honda CD-70).
His association and mentorship under renowned TVC director of the time, Madan Ali Madan, combined with his enviable artistic talent, eye for detail and natural affinity for leadership, led to a lifelong love of direction, and by 1972, Waheed Khan launched an eponymous production company, A.K. Films & Studios. Taking the ad world by storm, A.K. Films was responsible for a vast majority of commercials aired on PTV in the 70s and 80s, many of which were directed in the U.S., England, India, Hong Kong and Singapore.
